So, both rider and pillion enjoyed the KTM 1190 Adventure R. I’ve no doubt that there are more comfortable bikes for the pillion to sit on, and perhaps the seat needs a bit of modification for those long distance journeys, but in terms of performance you won’t even know that your significant other is there, and that’s the next best thing i test rode a mate's BMW F800GS, and i like the size and the fact that this bike is 'fun'. not too heavy etc before taking the plunge and ordering one for me i am considering another option - a new KTM 1190 Adventure R. unfortunately my local dealer does not have an 1190 R to sit on and check out. KTM 1290, 1190 and now with addition of the new 1090, the orange brand is aiming high at filling every desire of the adventure rider. For those that want to compliment these three KTM machines, Yoshimura has developed an RS-4 slip-on that delivers in every area that an adventure rider would desires - power, sound and looks. If I restart immediately, the engine dies immediately 7. the rear brake system overheats (due to exhaust and cat downstream airflow heat issue - worsened by the metal bash plate if fitted and should be recalled - this KTM rear brake design fault prematurely/commonly boils the 1190/1290 rear brake fluid turning the fluid black - change the fluid for dot 5.1 higher boiling point fluid and add a NS4XY0.
